Two new schools join The Mercian Trust family
On Sunday 1 June 2025 we were delighted to welcome the two newest members of The Mercian Trust family of schools, further developing our trust's impact across more ages and stages of education.
Rushall Primary School and Oakwood School, an all-through special school, both in Walsall, have joined up to our social justice and social mobility mission to increase opportunities and improve outcomes for all children and young people in the communities that we serve.
Situated across two campuses in the north of Walsall, both schools have a long-standing progressive and collaborative approach. They have been working formally together as the North Star Federation since 2018, going on to launch the ground-breaking North Star Inclusion Advisory Team, which has become known as the go-to provider of inclusion expertise in the area.
Kate Bargh, Executive Headteacher of the two schools welcomed Trust Executive Directors Amy Whittall and Lois Kelly this morning to present staff with our now customary 'Welcome to our family' chocolate bars and framed pictures for the school reception areas.
